Nice to meet you, I’m Umimi
I’m from Tokyo, Japan. Today, it’s been a week since I came here, San Diego! It’s also my fifth day working at GUNNZO.
I’d love to share a little bit about my life here in San Diego.
I started working at GUNNZO after being invited by the owner. Even though I’m from Japan, I have to admit my knowledge of Gundam is still pretty limited…Right now, I’m learning more about Gundam, as well as new English words through conversations with customers everyday.
The other day was my first day to fully relax. A wonderful customer who visited the shop gave me a free ticket to Belmont Park, so I decided to go there by myself! I fell in love with the roller coaster because of the incredible view of Mission Beach. It was so much fun that I rode it several times.
However, I started feeling a little lonely… so I talked to the person standing behind me in line, who happened to be wearing a T-shirt from the Japanese anime Bokuno-Hero-Academia”僕のヒーローアカデミア”. I asked them where I should go for lunch, and to my surprise, they said...“We’re actually having a family birthday party right now — wanna come join us?” I went to the party, and everyone welcomed me so warmly. They said things like, “You must be hungry! Eat as much as you want!” Their kindness filled my heart and instantly took away that lonesome feeling. By the end of the day, we had exchanged contact info and became friends.
Thinking about it now, I realize this wonderful encounter all started because I began working at GUNNZO. It makes me really excited to see what kind of amazing people I’ll meet next through this job.
Can’t wait to see what new connections are waiting for me next…
Umimi
